Hummus

Fresh hummus with garlic, lemon and tahini. Tahini is a paste from ground and toasted sesame seeds. With its nutty flavor it has anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties and may protect liver and kidney function. Along with chickpeas which are high in protein and packaged with nutrients this smooth and creamy hummus makes a good snack for everyone to enjoy.

GLUTEN FREE AND VEGAN

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz can garbanzo beans-chick peas
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1 TBS olive oil
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 3 garlic cloves pressed
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Drain the chick peas and pour into a food processor. Add tahini, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Pour a bit of the water and turn your food processor on. Every few seconds keep adding water and scrapping the sides of the processor until you reach the consistency of the hummus you like. May add a little less or more of the 1/3 cup water according to your taste. Serve with your favorite pita, tortilla chips or toasted Indian naan bread.
